August brings with it news.

I have decided to ease off on my commitment to 4 patterns/month.  Members who paid for a full
year have already been refunded for their unused months.  I had been struggling for a few months
now to get the patterns out each month, and finally, after my 11yo said to me "Mom, I understand
why you're not spending as much time with us.  You need to work to earn money."  I figured
something had to be done.
But what?  Quit my guaranteed-income job?  Especially when I'm getting more hours to help pay
the bills, etc?  Or stop designing as much.  I will still design, but just not as much (at least not right
now) as I used to.  Ideally, things would have been better for the economy, I would have borrowed
money and set up a craft shop in town.  But, with hubby's job iffy, and a family to help support, I just
couldn't take the risk.
Besides, I think I was starting to burn out a little.  I kept looking at patterns I wanted to do, some of
my older designs that I wanted to 'whip up' but didn't have the time, and actually try to do some
sketching.  This after my 11yo asked me to draw a large eye on lined paper.  I told her I had some
art paper, and dug out my old, small sketchbook.  We looked through the few pictures that were
there, and I think our reaction was pretty much the same:  "Wow, you/I did that??"  I remembered
how I felt when I was sketching and shading, making a 2 dimensional sketch look 3-D, and
wondered why I'd stopped.  All this I wanted to do, but couldn't because my 'spare' time was
extremely limited.

This month, I'm updating with the designs I've finished the last two months.  I will continue to update
this site, and am hoping now that I am not committed to 4 new designs/month, to add a free pattern
here and there again.  It's been awhile since I've posted a freebie.
