Barefoot Magnet
April,2004/Sally Ives
A fun, summery magnet, especially done in bright colours!  This is one of those ideas that hit me out of the blue.  Love those ones!  Magnet in worsted weight winds up about 4" x 2 ½".  I did try this using crochet thread size 10 and a size 1.65mm crochet hook and wound up with one a little less than half the size.  I made two of the smaller ones, sewed them back to back (matching toes of course!) and attached a key ring.  This one I did in a bright variegated...think it was Mexicana? By Southmaid.

Materials:
worsted weight yarn in your choice of colour
crochet hook size 3.75mm (F)

Notes: Always start row with ch1, does NOT count as first st.  Always turn at end of row.
Dec=draw up loop in each of next 2 sts, yo, draw through all 3 loops.

To start:
Row 1: ch6.  Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across.  (5)
Row 2&3: 2sc in 1st st, sc to last, 2sc in last.  (7,9)
Row 4: Sc across.
Row 5: Dec once, sc across.  (8)
Row 6: Sc to last 2sts, dec.  (7)
Row 7: Repeat row 5.  (6)
Row 8-10: Sc across.
Row 11: 2sc in 1st st, sc across.  (7)
Row 12: 2sc in 1st st, sc to last st, 2sc in last.  (9)
Row 13: 2sc in 1st st, sc across.  (10)
Row 14 & 15: Sc across.
Row 16: Dec, sc to last 2 sts, dec.  (8)
Row 17: (this is the fun part, forms the toes!)  Sc, ch7 in same st.  tr in 4th ch from hook.  Dc in next 2 chs, hdc in next, sc in same st as first sc.  Sl st in next 2 sts of row 16. (Sc in next st, ch5.  Hdc in 3rd ch from hook, sc in next 2 chs and in same st as 1st sc of toe) twice.  Sc in next st.  ch4, hdc in 3rd ch from hook, sc in next ch and in same st as first sc of toe.  Sc in next st of row 16.  Ch3, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, sl st in last st of row 16.  FO, weave in ends.  Glue magnet to back.  Either side can be front, make 2 to make a pair of footprints for your fridge!
