Bathing Suit Fridgies

App. Size: woman’s suit: 3.5", man’s trunks: 3"

Materials:
Crochet hook size G (4.25mm)
worsted weight yarn scraps
embroidery floss if desired for accents
magnet

Notes: Always start row with ch1 (does NOT count as first st) unless specified.  Turn at end of rows.
To dec: draw up loop in 2 sts, yo, draw through all 3 loops.

For woman’s bathing suit:
With pink, ch 3.  Sc in 2nd st from hook and in last.  (2)
Row 2: 2 sc in each st.  (4)
Row 3: 2sc in 1 st, sc in 2, 2 sc in last.  (6)
Row 4: 3sc in 1st st.  Sc in 4, 3sc in last.  (10)
Row 5: Sc across.
Row 6: Dec, sc in 6, dec.  (8)
Row 7: Sc across.
Row 8: Dec, sc in 4, dec.  (6)
Row 9: Repeat row 4.  (10)
Row 10 & 11: Sc across.
Row 12: Sc in 4, sl st in 2, sc in 4.  (10)
Row 13: Dec, sc in 2, sl st in 2, sc in 2, dec.  (8)
Row 14: Sl st in 1st st.  Ch4.  Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 2 chs.  Sc in next st of row 13, sl st in 4.  Sc in next, ch4, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 2 chs.  Sl st in last st of row 13.  FO, weave in ends.
For accents: use embroidery floss to do a back stitch around edge as shown.  If desired, embroider a design on front: I did a simple flower with 3 french knots in centre, lazy daisy stitches for petals, and simple back stitch for leaves and stem.

For man’s trunks:
With white, ch 12.  Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across.  (11)
Row 2: Sc across.  (Right side) FO.
Row 3: With right side facing, working in opposite side of starting ch, join blue with sc in first st.  Sc in same st and across to last st.  2sc in last st.  (13)
Row 4-8: Sc across.
Row 9: Sc in 6 sts, turn, leaving remaining sts unworked.
Row 10&11: Sc across.  FO at end of 11.
For second leg:
Row 9: With right side of suit facing, join blue with sc in 2nd st to left of first leg.  Sc in last 5 sts, turn.
Row 10&11: Sc across, FO at end of 11.

Trim on leg: Work same for both legs. Right side facing.   Join white with sc in first st at bottom of leg.  Sc across.  FO.

Thread a 4" piece of blue yarn on needle.  Insert from front to back, then back to front around centre stitch of waist (white) as shown.  Tie bow, trim ends.
If desired, st a decorative ‘fly’ or other accents.

For both, to finish: glue magnet to back of piece.
