Small Beaded Tote

Small draw string tote bag, measures about 6" across bottom, roughly 9" tall.  Hat fits children app. 5 and up.  I did try the hat on myself, and it was a bit snug for an adult-size head, but using a slightly larger hook would probably make it large enough for me.
Hat does not cover ears, so I do not recommend it for cold-weather use unless you add a few rounds to make it longer.


Materials needed for set:
worsted weight yarn (I used Bernat Handicrafter cotton) in two colours , A & B
aluminum crochet hook size G (4.5mm)
210 (6x9) pony beads (purse shown also has some specialty beads scattered, stars, butterflies)

Note: Always join at end of rounds.  Always start each sc round with a ch 1: this does NOT count as first sc.
BLPS: crochet in back loop only of sts.
Reverse sc: work sc in st to right of last one made, continue working left to right.

Tote:
With A, ch3.  Join with sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch1, 9 sc in ring.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st.  (18)
Rnd 3: (Sc in 1 st, 2 sc in next) around. (27)
Rnd 4: (Sc in 2 st, 2 sc in next) around.  (36)
Rnd 5: (sc in 5 sts, 3 sc in next) around.  (48)
Rnd 6: Sc in 6 sts, 3 sc in next.  (Sc in 7 sts, 3sc in next) around.  Sc in last st.  (60)
Rnd 7: In BLPS this round only, sc around.
Rnd 8-9: Sc around.  FO col A.
Thread 30 beads on col B.
Join B with sl st. 
Rnd 10: Sc around.
Rnd 11: ch 3 (counts as hdc plus ch1), push up bead, ch1, sk 1 st.  (hdc in next st, ch1, push up bead, ch1, sk 1 st) around.  Join to 2nd ch of ch3.
Rnd 12: Sc in each hdc and in loop above each bead.  FO.  (60)
Rnds 13-30: Changing colours every 3 rounds, repeat 7-12 3 more times.  You will have 4 bands with beads.
Rnds 31-33: With A, repeat 7-9.
Rnd 34: Ch3.  Sk 1 st, (hdc in next st, sk 1 st) around.  Join to 2nd ch.
Rnd 35: sc in each hdc and ch st around.  (60 sc)
Rnd 36: Sc around.  FO colour A.
Thread 30 beads on B, join. 
Rnd 37: Sc in BLPS around.
Rnd 38: TURN. *ch 5, push up bead, sl st around bead into 2nd ch from hook.  Ch3, sl st in next st.  Ch4, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, ch2, sl st in next st.  Repeat from * around, join to joining st.  FO, weave in ends.

Straps (make 2)
Ch 120, FO.
Weave 1st strap in and out of spaces of rnd 34.  Join ends securely together, weave in yarn ends.
For second strap, start on opposite side of bag, repeat steps for 1st strap.

Beadless option: Replace rnd 11 and all beaded rounds with:
Ch2, (counts as 1st hdc and ch1), sk 1 st, (hdc in next st, ch1, sk 1 st) around.

HAT:

Follow rounds 1-21 of tote.  This will give you two bands of beads, you will end with 3 rounds of sc in col A.    FO col A, join B with sl st.  Ch1, reverse sc around.  If you prefer NOT to do the reverse sc, simply do a regular sc, or : (Sc, ch1, sc in next st) around.
