| I got a little ambitious after I joined a magnet exchange in one of the groups I belong to and designed my own. Round potholder on the left is about 3 1/2" in diameter. The shopping bag on the right (3-D, great place to stick rolled up messages) is about 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" not including the handle. This can also be used as a fashion doll tote! For both, I used small amounts of worsted weight yarn, and a size E (3.75mm) hook. |
| Round Potholder 2 colours worsted weight yarn, I used A=teal, B=variegated. Note: Do not join rounds, mark 1st stitch with contrasting colour thread. 1. With colA, ch4, join to form ring. 2. Ch1, 8sc in ring. * Work in back loops only from here. 3. 2sc in each st. 4. (2 sc in 1st st, sc in next) around. 5. (2sc in 1st st, sc in next 2) around. 6. (2sc in 1st st, sc in next 3) around. Join to bl of 1st st, FO. Join col B with sc in first free loop of Rnd 2. Sc in each free loop around and in front loops of rnd 6. Ss in same st as last sc. Border: Worked in free loops of round 6. Ch1, sc in same st. (ch2, sc in next st) around. End with (sc, ch8, sc, ch2) [forms handle] in last st, join to 1st sc. FO, weave in ends. Glue magnetic strip to the back. |
| Shopping Bag Fridgie I used col A=raspberry, colB=white. Front and Back (make 2) 1. With colour A, ch4, ss to join. 2. Ch3, 2dc in ring. Ch2, (3dc, ch2) 3 times, join to top of ch3. FO. 3. Join colB in corner. Ch3, (2dc, ch2, 3dc) in same space. ch1. (3dc, ch2, 3dc, ch1) in each corner. Join to top of ch3, FO. Weave in ends. Side: With colour B, ch30. Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each chain across. FO, weave in ends. With front facing, and working through bl of front and fl of side, join colour A with ss in top left stitch. Ss in each stitch around to top right. FO. Repeat for back. Border and handle: Join colour A in centre stitch on either side with sc. Work sc around. Ch 18 (or sufficient chains for desired length of handle). Join with ss to centre stitch of opposite side. ch1, turn. Sc across, join with ss to 1st stitch of border. Weave in ends, glue magnetic strip to back. |
