Materials: steel crochet hook size US6 (1.6mm)
size 10 cotton
Rnd 1. Ch 78. sc in 6th ch from hook. (ch3, sk 2ch, sc in next) to
last 2 sts. (ch 3, sc, ch3) in end st. Work in unworked loops on
opposite side. Sk 2 st (sc in next, ch3, sk 2sts) to beginning sc, sl st
in same loop as beginning crochet. (24 ch3 loops on each side of
starting chain, with one extra chain 3 loop at top--this will be the
head)
Rnd 2 (RS) (2sc, 2hdc, 3dc, 2hdc, 2sc) in top loop. (5 dc in next
loop, sc in next) 5 times, sl st in next sc. Ch3, turn. Work so you
are working on opposite side, rs facing you. Ch3 is kept behind
work.. Slst in sc (sc in loop, 5 dc in next) 5 times, slst to 1st sc. FO.
(there will be several loops NOT worked into, this will be the tail:
when you work the ch3, hold tail forward so chain is behind piece)
With RS facing, Side 1:
Join to 1st sc of rnd 2 at bottom right. Ch1, sc in same st, ch1, 2dc
in ea of next 2 sts. Ch2, sk 1 st, 2 dc in next st, 2tr in next. Sk sc,
2tr in next st. 2 dc in next, ch2, sk 1 st, 2dc in next, 2hdc in next, sk
1sc, 2hdc in next 2 sts. Ch1, sk1, 2hdc in next, 2 dc in next. Sk 1sc,
2dc in next st, 2hdc in next. Ch1, sk1, 2hdc in next. Sc in next, sk
1sc, sc in next. 2sc in next, ch1, sk1, 2sc in next st. 2hdc in next st,
sk joining st, hdc in next st, sl st in next st.
FOR EAR: [ch4, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next, dc in next]
Sk 1 st, ss in 3 sts. Repeat [] for other ear. Sk 1st, slst in next.
Second side: (is worked reverse of 1st side)
Hdc in next st, sk 1sc, 2 hdc in next, 2sc in next st, then ch1, sk1, 2
sc in next, sc in following st, sk1, sc in next. 2hdc in next, ch1, sk1,
2hdc in next, 2dc in next. sk sc, 2 dc in next, 2hdc in next, ch1, sk1,
2hdc in next 2 sts. sk sc, 2 hdc in next, 2 dc in next, ch2 sk 1. 2 dc
in following st, 2 tr in next, sk sc, 2 tr in next, 2dc in next, ch2, sk1.
2 dc in each of next 2 sts, ch1, sc in next, slst in same st. FO, weave
in ends.

Because it's been some time since I've last done one, I whipped one up...and MY kitty
didn't turn out right. A little unbalanced, like I sometimes feel! There are a few
ammendments, and I've also added a 'loop' count at the end of rnd 1 to help clarify
things. Ammendments are in red.
